Mission: Legal Outreach's primary mission is to change the educational trajectory of students from underserved communities in NYC by using intensive legal and educational programs as tools for fostering vision, developing academic skills, and enhancing confidence as we facilitate the pursuit of higher education. Legal Outreach serves students from Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.
About: Founded in 1983, Legal Outreach is a non-profit organization focused on changing the educational trajectory of urban youth from under-resourced communities and facilitating the pursuit of higher education by using legal and educational programs as tools for fostering vision, developing skills, enhancing confidence, and providing a structured community of support. To that end, Legal Outreach has designed a four-year, multi-faceted, academic and support program that operates after-school, on Saturdays and during the summer as a means of helping young people matriculate and succeed at selective colleges. The program is known as "College Bound" and consists of a series of mandatory skill development and support programs designed to help underprivileged students stay on track for college.
