Shared Values — a cause and an action.
Glasswing International
Mission: Glasswing International empowers individuals to address the root causes of poverty and violence in their communities through education and health programs.
About: In 2007, Glasswing International was founded on the belief that lasting change can be achieved by investing in a community's existing strengths and resources - its infrastructure and its people. We have invested more than $30MM to empower communities across Latin America, the Caribbean, and New York City to address the root causes of poverty and violence so that children and future generations can thrive. By working with partners across private, public, and governmental sectors to create strong, local partnerships that innovatively empower communities and create opportunities for individuals to be agents of change for a brighter future.
In the past decade, we have impacted the lives of more than 750,000 individuals and have renovated more than 550 public schools. We have transformed 40 public schools into Community Schools, a model in which a public school shares a commitment with Glasswing, other partners, and its surrounding community, to provide its students with a safer, more supportive, and stimulating environment in which to learn and belong. We have more than 20,000 students engaged in our educational, after-school programming every week of the year. These programs not only keep them in a safe space and improve their school performance - it also makes them three times less likely to drop out.
