Mission: Founded in 1969 by pediatrician Dr. Gerald Hass and several community activists concerned about the high infant mortality rates among Latinos, the South End Community Health Center (SECHC) has provided dignified and high quality care to Boston area residents for nearly a half century. During this time our commitment to the community has never wavered and our mission to provide the highest quality, culturally and linguistically sensitive, coordinated health care and social services to every patient, regardless of ability to pay, has remained steadfast.

About: SECHC provides outstanding preventive and coordinated care strategies to children, adults and families... We are a critical healthcare access point for many Bostonians, especially new immigrants and those living on the margins. We provide adult and family medicine, women's health, pediatric and behavioral health, ophthalmology and dental care. We saw over 19,000 patients last year in 77,000 patient visits. Sixty percent (60%) of our patient population is Latino/Hispanic while 17% is Black/African-American, 9% is White, 0.9% is Asian and the remaining is unreported. In 2012, we opened our satellite site, the Dr. Gerald Hass Center, which is the only full-time, full-service school-based health center in Boston offering comprehensive medical, behavioral health and dental services to the students of the Blackstone Innovation School and the surrounding community.
