Motivation

The ServiceCorps Fellowship would allow me to gain exposure to the non-profit sphere at a low opportunity cost. As a Service Fellow, I would take advantage of this one-year commitment to learn as much as I can about non-profit operations, make a valuable impact on local communities, and determine whether this model of business and impact is something I would want to engage in long-term. Additionally, ServiceCorps' flexibility would allow me to wear multiple hats and apply my previous business development and strategy skills in a smaller and less profits-focused organization. This experience would teach me how to be an adaptable business leader that can create change and drive growth.

Bio

I graduated from Boston College this May, having majored in International Studies and minored in Management & Leadership. Studying international politics and business as well as spending a semester in Beijing and New Delhi spurred my interest in the impact of the non-profit sector abroad. On field trips to local NGOs and think tanks in China and India, I saw the positive influence such organizations had on advancing human rights, improving standards of living, and lobbying for greater attention to important humanitarian causes. These experiences inspired me to join ServiceCorps to explore the effect of non-profits on education, poverty, and international development. After ServiceCorps, I will join Citi's Treasury  and Trade Solutions Analyst program where I look forward to learning more about financial services by helping clients manage their working capital. Ultimately, I wish to incorporate service at all stages of my business career, and I am glad ServiceCorps will be the first steppingstone of this journey.
